Top Ten Low-Calorie Drinks at Starbucks

Top Ten Low-Calorie Drinks at Starbucks

Starbucks is one of the most popular coffee chains of all time, with over 32,000 locations worldwide.

However, one of the most common complaints with Starbucks is that some of their drinks are packed with calories. But, fear not! We’ve got a list of the best low-calorie drinks at Starbucks and some tricks for making your favorite classics lower in calories.

If you’re counting calories, there are several ways to drink Starbucks coffee or fruit drinks still. You might have to make some substitutions to your favorite order or try something new, but you’ll find several low-calorie options on (or off) the menu.

Whether you love coffee, tea, or the famous pink drink, you’ll be able to start your day right and earn your Starbucks rewards with a lower-calorie drink. Don’t take our word for it, though; look through this list and pick your favorite healthier Starbucks option!

Next time you’re at Starbucks, try one of these low-calorie options to keep you health-conscious. All calorie counts are for a grande serving.

10 Best Low-Calorie Starbucks Drinks

  1. Nitro Cold Brew with Sweet Cream
  2. French Vanilla Cold Foam Brew
  3. Jade Citrus Mint Green Tea
  4. Black Hot or Iced Coffee
  5. Iced Blonde Vanilla Bean Coconut Latte
  6. Double Shot on Ice
  7. Skinny Chai Tea Latte
  8. Very Berry Hibiscus Starbucks Refresher
  9. Low Carb Pink Drink
  10. Iced Blonde Flat White

Nitro Cold Brew with Sweet Cream

If you love nitro coffee, Starbucks nitro coffee might become your new go-to in the mornings. The nitro cold brew with sweet vanilla cream is served straight from the tap and is only 70 calories! It also only has four grams of sugar, despite being very drinkable and smooth.

If 70 calories is too much or you can’t do dairy, try the nitro cold brew with honey and almond milk! It tastes just as good and only has 50 calories per grande.

Plain cold brew (with no added cream) is five calories, the same as a black cup of coffee. You can also find Starbucks cold brew sold pre-packaged at your local Starbucks or some grocery stores!

French Vanilla Cold Foam Brew

If the nitro brew is a little too fancy for you, a cheaper option is the regular cold brew coffee. You can add foam to the top to make it smoother and choose a flavor pump.

We recommend the french vanilla pump (the same flavor as the sweet cream in the nitro brew and the natural flavoring in the foam), but you can choose any flavor. I even opt for the sugar-free option which is just as delicious!

No matter which flavor of syrup you add, you’ll add 20 calories per pump. The base foam brew is 35 calories and has a natural vanilla flavoring. Even adding syrup, you still have a remarkably low-calorie drink with the French vanilla cold foam brew.

Jade Citrus Mint Green Tea

Not a coffee drinker, but still go to Starbucks on occasion? Don’t worry; there are plenty of tea and non-coffee options available. Most teas are naturally lower in calories than coffee, so you’re in luck when it comes to low-calorie Starbucks drinks.

The jade citrus mint green tea is one of the only options on the Starbucks menu with zero calories. It has a clean and refreshing taste, with hints of lemon and mint.

While you can add sweetener or cream to it, green tea is meant to be enjoyed without any additives! If you do need a little extra sweetness, honey is the best option (and the healthiest) for your tea.

Black Hot or Iced Coffee

The biggest sources of calories at Starbucks are the flavor pumps and the creamers. While these add flavor and sweetness to the coffee, Starbucks has a pretty strong base.

If you are a black coffee drinker, congratulations! You’ve unlocked one of the easiest ways to hold onto a low-calorie diet as a Starbucks consumer.

Any grande cup of black coffee – whether it’s hot or iced, light or dark roast—is only five calories. Black coffee is also one of the least expensive and easiest to make items on the menu, appealing for the morning commute. It’s the perfect way to start your morning with low calories and the pure, unadulterated taste of coffee.

Iced Blonde Vanilla Bean Coconut Latte

Starbucks Iced Blonde Vanilla Bean Latte is delicious—no one can argue that. However, it’s also pretty high in calories, coming in at 190 calories per grande.

It may seem like there’s no way to justify getting a latte like this if you’re watching your calories, but you can reduce the calories on the vanilla bean latte without losing any flavor!

If you don’t want to take out any of the vanilla flavors (a grande comes with four pumps of vanilla syrup at 20 calories each), an easy solution is to switch out the 2% milk for coconut milk.

Using coconut milk instead of cow’s milk can reduce your calories by almost 60 per drink. It also gives the drink a smooth, nutty undertone that pairs exceptionally well with the vanilla.

Double Shot on Ice

Are you watching your diet but need a caffeine boost to make it through the morning? You’re not alone—over 60% of Americans drink coffee daily. We’ve discussed black coffee and how few calories it is, but if you don’t have time to drink a whole cup, a shot does the trick as well.

A single shot of espresso is three calories, so a double shot over ice is only six. That’s twice as much caffeine as a single cup of coffee, but only one calorie more!

A shot is only three ounces, less than half of a regular cup of coffee. However, it packs the same amount of caffeine. A double shot on ice is the perfect way to start the day with some juice!

Skinny Chai Tea Latte

If you’re a tea drinker, there’s nothing quite as comforting as a hot chai tea latte. With cream, sweetener, and chai tea, it brings the warmth and comfort of the holiday season any time of year.

However, the regular chai tea latte at Starbucks is upwards of two hundred calories, and if you’re watching calories, that’s a no-go.

Here’s where the customization on the Starbucks menu comes in handy. Instead of real cream and pumps of sweetener, you can ask for a skinny latte.

The barista will know to make your latte, chai or otherwise, fat- and sugar-free. With this trick, you can cut the calories on a chai tea latte down to around thirty calories!

Very Berry Hibiscus Starbucks Refresher

If you don’t drink tea or coffee, you know that Starbucks doesn’t have many low-calorie options.

Some of the most delicious Starbucks drinks are hot chocolate, lemonades, and refreshers, but they are also some of the highest-calorie options. However, there’s one notable (and delicious) exception.

The Very Berry Hibiscus Refresher is one of the few non-coffee or tea drinks that sits under a hundred calories.

At a fabulous 70 calories, this drink (made with real fruit juice, blackberries, and green coffee extract) is the perfect drink for a summer day. The same drink with lemonade added is fifty calories more, so be careful!

Low Carb Pink Drink

Undeniably, one of the yummiest summer drinks at Starbucks is the Pink Drink. It’s iconic—strawberries, coconut milk, passion fruit, and acai blend together to make a refreshing drink all year round.

Unfortunately, this blended favorite comes in at 130 calories. That’s not too terrible, considering some of the higher drinks at Starbucks, but it’s still not ideal. To request a low-carb pink drink, you’re going to have to know the menu.

Start with a regular pink drink, but request a sugar-free strawberry refresher over ice (or sugar passion iced tea if they don’t have strawberry refreshers).

Add one pump of sugar-free vanilla syrup, coconut milk, and freeze-dried strawberries. Altogether, this comes out to under 100 calories, with the same delicious taste!

Iced Blonde Flat White

The iced flat white coffees at Starbucks are also delicious. They mix ristretto shots of espresso with cream to create a smoother iced coffee.

The regular iced blonde flat white is 130 calories. However, simply requesting nonfat milk with your coffee or reducing the flavor pumps by one or two will bring the iced blond flat white to under 70 calories!

If you can’t have dairy, try the Iced Honey Almondmilk Flat White—it has a sweet, nutty flavor and comes in at 100 calories. Or opt for coconut milk, which is even fewer calories. Remember, cut a pump or two of syrup wherever you can, and you’ll reduce calories almost instantly!

Final Thoughts

Starbucks is one of the most popular coffee shops in the world for a good reason. The chain can cater to all kinds of dietary restrictions and needs without losing quality in any of its drinks.

While some drinks from Starbucks just can’t be low in calories, several of them are manageable on a low-calorie diet.

Whether you need to adjust the ingredients or just order something new, you’re sure to find something you like at your local Starbucks. Keep your coffee or tea habit without sacrificing your overall health!
